The Aultman Foundation Distributes $125,000 in Grants to 19 Nonprofits

CANTON, Ohio (Oct. 22, 2008) – The Aultman Foundation has announced 19 area nonprofit organizations will receive the organization’s third round of grant funding totaling $125,000 to help further the Aultman Foundation’s mission with their own services in Stark, Wayne, Holmes, Carroll and Tuscarawas counties.
The following organizations – whose services focus on health, education and human services for the underserved, especially the poor, elderly and children – are receiving grants for the specified amount:
- American Red Cross Stark County Chapter, $5,000 for babysitters training courses
- Child and Adolescent Behavioral Health, $4,000 for The Incredible Years school-age parent training programs
- Community Care Services, $9,800 for KidCare America after school mentoring program
- Deos Destiny Designs, $10,000 for One Family at a Time life skills and mentoring program
- FACES of Stark County, $5,000 for What About Us advocacy program
- Families First, $2,700 for Mother Mentor program assisting teen mothers
- Grace Operations and Development Center, $7,000 for youth life skills and mentoring programs
- Hammer & Nails, $4,000 for residents with physical limitations to live independently
- Jr. League of Canton, Ohio, Inc., $8,000 for an independent living program for children aging out of foster care
- First Mennonite dba Lighthouse Ministries, $7,000 for healthy snacks for participants of NASI (Neighborhood-Based After School Initiative)
- Mayor's Literacy Commission, $3,000 for book fairs for children and adults
- North Canton Playhouse, $3,200 for presentation of six educational prevention dramas dealing with domestic violence
- Project REBUILD, $5,000 for student CPR and first aid certification and medical supplies and support
- Safe Kids Stark County, $3,500 for childhood injury prevention seminar for health care providers
- Stark Social Worker’s Network, $10,000 for respite services
- Turning Point of Stark County, $5,000 for program to address needs of drug/alcohol addicted females reentering society
- Urban Ark Ministries, $14,800 to provide neutral, no- or low-cost supervised visits for non-custodial parents or family members
- WATOES – “We are Troubled on Every Side”, $6,000 for senior outreach programming
- YMCA Big Brothers Big Sisters, $12,000 to expand the mentoring program
